Hustle in Edgbaston - Calthorpe House provides TV location

October 2009

Calthorpe House, the latest edition to the Birmingham skyline, has provided a filming location for the hit BBC TV programme Hustle, currently filming across the city.

The £40m Grade A office development, prominently situated near Five Ways Island in Edgbaston; has been used as a bank headquarters for an episode of the BBC ONE drama about a gang of con artists, due to be screened in early 2010. The basement was mocked up as a vault, whilst the impressive views across the city from the sixth floor acted as a backdrop to a trading room.

Parminder Dhillon of Calthorpe Estates commented: “We’re extremely proud of Calthorpe House and very excited that it will feature so prominently in Hustle.

“It’s a stylish, contemporary development in a great location and an obvious setting for the popular slick programme with its glamorous cast and fast paced storylines.

“The visually striking building has real kerb appeal which I have no doubt will translate onto the small screen when the episode is aired next year.”

The 107,044 sq ft Calthorpe House is the latest addition to Calthorpe Estates’ impressive portfolio and one of the first in Birmingham to achieve an environmental BREEAM* rating of ‘Excellent’.

Staff from Calthorpe Estates visited the set at Calthorpe House and met the crew and cast, including Birmingham born actor Adrian Lester and his co-stars Robert Glenister, Kelly Adams and ex-Eastender Matt Di Angelo.

Now in its sixth series, Hustle has previously been filmed in London, Las Vegas and Hollywood. The second series of another BBC1 drama, the post-apocalyptic Survivors, starring Max Beesley and Julie Graham, has also recently been filmed in Birmingham.
